About Priya Thachadi

Priya is the co-founder and CEO of Villgro Philippines, an early stage impact investor and incubator that funds, mentors and support for-profit social enterprises that are building solutions to impact the poor.

Priya served as the Head of Incubatee Support and Human Capital at Villgro Innovation Foundation for over three years, supporting innovative early stage social entrepreneurs in India. She led post-investment support for portfolio companies and pioneered Villgro’s Mentoring program and technical assistance initiatives to support these innovative entrepreneurs.

Prior to Villgro, she worked as a public policy practitioner in New Delhi with PRS Legislative Research, working closely with Members of Parliament. She led India’s only national legislative assistants Fellowship, where she managed and trained two cohorts of Fellows; she also monitored activities of the Parliament and state Assemblies and published statistical analyses on their performance. Through her work in India, Priya has been instrumental in infusing high quality talent into the social impact and policy sector, by recruiting over a 150 young individuals over the last 6 years.

She has also worked in London as a researcher and campaigner against arms trade, and as a consultant with DFID, connecting young British nationals to development projects around the world. She started her career as a journalist in Bangalore, where she covered urban development and poverty issues.

Priya holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Warwick, a post graduate diploma in Human Rights Law, a diploma in Journalism and an undergraduate degree in Commerce.

Currently, Priya serves as the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) East and Southeast Asia and as an advisory group member to DFAT's Frontier Innovators. She is a member of the Board of Directors of, the largest education to platform in the Philippines reaching over 10 millions students a year.

She also co-founded Unlock Impact, a social impact consulting firm that works with entrepreneurs and funders to help scale solutions that create impact at scale, across South and Southeast Asia.

These days you can find her mentoring and training entrepreneurs in Manila where I'mshe is actively involved in the social impact ecosystem, when not exploring the beautiful beaches around the Philippines.
