About Adellene Tanuri
adelle_odelia

Adelle graduated from UC Berkeley in 2019 with a double major in Economics and Development Studies. She also spent time in the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where she gained expertise in Business Innovation for Social Responsibility. She was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia – a city that opened her eyes to the reality of social inequality. This upbringing coupled with her early involvement in setting up the microfinance program of YCAB Foundation, fueled her passion to create opportunities for all especially through education and youth empowerment.

Her passion to catalyze positive change through collaboration across society is reflected in her cross-sectoral and global work experiences in the private, public, and nonprofit sector. In the governmental level, she has worked as an economic research analyst in The Executive Office of the President of Indonesia where she was involved in the evaluation of the infrastructure development in Kalimantan (Borneo). In the social sector, she was an operations and impact assessment intern in an impact investing firm in San Francisco called Just Business and also a grant operations intern in a nonprofit called the Green Light Fund. In those experiences, she was responsible to conduct due diligences on potential investees and helped streamline the investment process. In the private sector, she has had work experience in the United Kingdom as a partnership activation intern in Manchester United.

In 2018, Adelle co-founded Spark USA. Spark is a social impact organization that aims to inspire youths to leverage their careers to solve complex social and environmental issues in order to create a generation of purpose-driven and impactful leaders. To date, Spark has reached hundreds of undergraduates and grad students alike through events and conferences. Currently, Adelle is a Strategic Partnerships Fellow for Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia), focusing specifically on creating partnerships in South East Asia with multiple stakeholders in order to democratize and give access to free knowledge for all. At the same time, she devotes her time to serve YCAB Foundation remotely.
